Devtrace is a Chrome DevTools extension that captures and stores console logs locally on your device. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
What Data We Collect
The Extension
Devtrace does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data.
- All console logs are stored locally on your device using IndexedDB
- No data is sent to our servers or any third parties
- We do not track your browsing activity
- We do not collect analytics or usage data
- We have no access to your logs or any information about what websites you visit
This Website
If you sign up for our waitlist:
- We collect your email address only
- We use this solely to notify you about Devtrace updates and launch
- We will never sell or share your email with third parties
- You can unsubscribe at any time
Data Storage
Console logs captured by Devtrace are stored in your browser's IndexedDB storage. This data:
- Stays on your local device
- Is not synced to any cloud service
- Can be cleared at any time using the "Clear" button in the extension
- Is automatically deleted if you uninstall the extension
Permissions
Devtrace requires the following Chrome permissions:
- storage — To save your log data locally
- activeTab — To capture console output from the current tab
- scripting — To inject the console capture script
- alarms — To keep the service worker active for log persistence
- host_permissions (all_urls) — To capture logs from any website you choose to debug
Third-Party Services
The extension itself uses no third-party services.
This website uses Formspree to handle email signups. Their privacy policy can be found at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
